What is Viagra Soft tabs?
Viagra is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men or sexual
impotence.
How does Viagra Soft work?
Viagra is said to delay the action of enzymes called phosphodiesterases
from working too rapidly. The penis is one area where these enzymes are
active. By controlling these enzymes, Viagra helps by maintaining erection
when the penis is stroked. It has the same chemical and active ingredient
as the regular Viagra but these tablets are formulated to be dissolved
under the tongue. The chemical agent is absorbed in the mouth and enters
the bloodstream directly instead of being absorbed first in the stomach.
This results to a more powerful effect. And the patient does not have
to wait for 30-90 minutes for the drug to take effect. It only takes 15-20
minutes for Viagra Soft to work. It can also be taken with alcohol and
its efficacy is not affected by eating fatty foods.
How is Viagra Soft taken?
Use exactly as directed by your doctor. Take the drug 15-20 minutes before
sexual intercourse. Put the pill under the tongue and wait until it dissolves.
Take this medication only when needed. Do not take this pill more than
once a day. Talk to your doctor if you need additional information about
Viagra Soft.
Important Information
• Do not take this medication if you are taking a nitrate-based
drug, recreational drugs or alpha blockers or other drugs for impotence.
These can react with Viagra Soft and side effects can prove to be fatal.
• It has also been reported that there were incidence of sudden
loss of vision with the use of Viagra Soft. However, it is not yet clear
if these effects were a result of the medication or a combination of the
drug with other conditions. Sudden vision loss occurred with patients
using Viagra Soft with the following conditions: heart disease, diabetes,
high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or certain pre-existing eye problems,
and in those who smoke or are over 50 years old. If you experience any
difficulty with your vision, consult your doctor right away.
• Before taking Viagra Soft, inform your doctor if you had or have
a medical history of the following conditions:
o heart disease or heart rhythm problems;
o a recent history (in the past 6 months) of a heart attack, stroke, or
heart rhythm disorder;
o congestive heart failure;
o high or low blood pressure;
o coronary artery disease;
o liver disease;
o kidney disease;
o a blood cell disorder such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma,
or leukemia;
o a bleeding disorder such as hemophilia;
o a stomach ulcer;
o retinitis pigmentosa (an inherited condition of the eye);
o a physical deformity of the penis (such as Peyronie’s disease)
• Refrain from engaging in sexual activity if it poses a danger
to your health.
• This medication is under the FDA category B, therefore it is not
likely to cause harm to an unborn baby. Do not use Viagra without telling
your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.
• It is not yet known whether Viagra passes into breast milk or
if it could harm a nursing infant. Do not use this medication without
telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
• If you experience dizziness, nausea or angina (chest pain, numbness
and tingling in the chest, arms, neck or jaw) while engaging in sexual
activity, stop the sexual activity and consult your doctor.
• Stop the use of this medication and get emergency medical help
if you have sudden vision loss.
• Get medical emergency treatment if you suspect an allergic reaction.
The signs include: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face,
lips, tongue, or throat.
• Stop using Viagra Soft and seek immediate medical attention if
you experience the following symptoms:
o chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder,
nausea, sweating, general ill feeling;
o irregular heartbeat;
o swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet;
o shortness of breath;
o vision changes;
o feeling light-headed, fainting; or
o penis erection that is painful or lasts 4 hours or longer.
• You can continue taking the medication if you experience any of
these less side effects.
o warmth or redness in your face, neck, or chest;
o stuffy nose;
o headache;
o upset stomach; or
o back pain
Other side effects of this medication may also be experienced. Talk to
your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen or become alarming.
